PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (WWSB) - Deputies said a law enforcement scene near Palm Drive in Punta Gorda is safe, and personnel will begin clearing the area.Some deputies may remain as part of an ongoing investigation, officials said in a 1:05 p.m. update Friday. Authorities said there is no threat to the public.A large law enforcement presence was initially reported in the Palm Drive area late Friday morning.Officials have not released details about the reason for the response. No information about injuries or arrests was immediately available.
