Sarasota community honors longtime Babe Ruth baseball volunteer

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Dozens of people gathered at Babe Ruth Park to honor Peter Orser during a celebration of life.Friends, family and former players attended the event for Orser, who volunteered with the Sarasota Babe Ruth Baseball League for more than 20 years.The league’s president, Todd Williams, said Orser handled tasks ranging from field maintenance to concessions.“Ever since I’ve been here I don’t think I’ve seen Pete with a baseball team but every single baseball team relied on Pete,” Williams said.Williams said Sarasota County has painted “In memory of Peter Orser” across one of the fields at Babe Ruth Park.
